In today’s selection from the prophet Jeremiah, we hear very encouraging words…words of promise, of relationship, of forgiveness. Our God is a God who invites us into an intimate relationship, even after we fail; a relationship that is reciprocal and inclusive. The relationship between God and us is not a legalistic contract but a covenant of love. The “law” is not a mere list of rules to be obeyed but a yearning for God that is indelibly inscribed on our hearts.
